Beyoncé and Jay-Z Scholarships
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have a long history of providing scholarship opportunities to students. In 2018, Beyoncé delivered one of her greatest performances at Coachella, which was inspired by the
homecoming weekends at HBCUs. A few days later, she launched the
Homecoming Scholars Award Program. She also sponsored scholarships to commemorate the one-year anniversary of her visual album,
Lemonade.
In 2013, Jay-Z began offering scholarships through his foundation. The idea to begin a scholarship program came from his Mom, Gloria Carter, who pointed out that there are so many students who have great potential but lack the financial resources to make their college dreams a reality. Since its inception, his foundation has given away millions in scholarship dollars.
